Articles of Faith

I. HOLY SCRIPTURES

We believe that all Scripture is given by the inspiration of God. That the original manuscripts were inspired and infallible. That holy men of God were ‘moved by the Holy Ghost’ to write the very words of Scripture. We believe that this divine inspiration extends equally and fully to all its parts, in the same sense that the Bible is wholly without error in all matters to which it speaks in the original manuscripts. That Scripture is completely trustworthy and authoritative in every area to which it speaks (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; 1 Thessalonians 2:13).

II. THE TRINITY OF THE GODHEAD

We believe in one triune God, eternally existing in three persons, (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), who created all things, co-equal in power and glory, co-eternal in being and co- identical in nature (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:8; John 1:1-2).

  • Father-We believe that God the Father is the giver of all gifts, including His Son, Jesus Christ, whom He sent into the world to be our redeemer (James 1:17; Galatians 4:4-5; John 20:21).
  • Son-We believe that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1:20, 23), that He lived a sinless life (John 8:29; 1 Peter 2:22), that he died a coluntary and vicarious death on the cross (John 10:18; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Colossians 1:14), that He arose from the dead in a physical body (Luke 24:39-43), that He ascended into Heaven where He is at the right hand of the Father and intercedes for us (Romans 8:34), and He will return to this world in the same manner in which He went into Heaven (Acts 1:10-11).
  • Holy Ghost-We believe that the Holy Ghost, like the Father and the Son, has well-defined ministries. These ministries include the following:-The convicting of the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.
-The regeneration, indwelling and sealing of all who believe. We further believe that it is by His enabling that believers are able to carry out scriptural commands (John 16:7-11; Romans 8:19; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31; Ephesians 4:30; 1 John 2:20-27). We believe the Holy Spirit equips every believer for ministry in the Body of Christ by bestowing gifts (Romans 12:1-8; 1 Corinthians 13:8).

III. CREATION AND THE FALL OF MAN

We believe that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, in the beginning, by the word of His power, made from nothing the heavens and the earth and all things therein within the space of six days, and all very good. (Genesis 1; Exodus 20:11; Jeremiah 10:12)

We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature, and became alienated from God. We believe that man is, of himself, utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Genesis 1:26, 27; Romans 3:22,23; Ephesians 2:1-3; Romans 5:12)

IV. SALVATION

We believe that all men are sinners by nature, by practice, and by the express declaration of God (Jeremiah 17:9; Psalm 51:5; Mark 7:21-23; Romans 3:23; Galatians 3:22). We believe that the result of rejecting God’s plan of salvation is eternal death, everlasting separation from the love and goodness of God in a place of conscious punishment, which is referred to in Scripture as Hell and the Lake of Fire (Romans 6:23; Matthew 25:42; Revelation 20:15; 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9). We believe that salvation is a work of God for man and not a work of man for God. We believe that a man is justified on the basis of his faith in Christ apart from his works. We understand the Bible to teach that the only thing a lost person can or must do to be saved is to repent and believe on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:5; Acts 16:31; Romans 2:4; Romans 3:21-26; Romans 4:5; Romans 11:29; Luke 13:3; John 3:16; 2 Corinthians 7:10; Hebrews 6:1).

V. ETERNAL LIFE

We believe that eternal life is a free gift, which one receives when he believes that God’s Son died for his sins (John 3:16; 1 John 5:11-13).

VI. ETERNAL SECURITY

We believe that a true child of God is saved forever from the penalty of sin (Ephesians 4:30; John 10:27-29; Philemon 1:6; 1 John 5:13; 2 Timothy 1:12; 1 Peter 1:3-5).

VII. OBLIGATIONS OF BELIEVERS

We believe that it is the obligation of the redeemed to witness by life and by word to the truths of the Holy Scriptures and to seek to proclaim the Gospel to all mankind. All believers are under obligation, therefore, to sustain established witnesses and to contribute by prayers, gifts and personal effort to the extension of the Gospel throughout the whole earth. It is their obligation to commit themselves to the regular meeting of the church, and financial support of it. (Mark 16:15; Acts 1:8; II Corinthians 5:19,20;Hebrews 10:25; Philippians 4:10-19)

We believe that the saved should live in such a manner that they should not bring reproach upon their Savior and Lord, and that separation from all religious apostasy, all worldly and sinful pleasures, practices, and associations is commanded of God. (II Timothy 3:1-5; II John 8-11; I John 2:15-17; II Corinthians 5:19, 20)

VIII. THE CHURCH

We believe that the Church, which is the body of the espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons. (Ephesians 1:22, 23; 5:25-27; I Corinthians 12:12-24)

We believe that the establishment and continuation of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. (Acts 14:27; 20:17; 28:32; I Timothy 3:1-13)
